Happy Easter!

Well today I am celebrating my Birthday and my dearest Husband and Sons got me a Silhouette Cameo (Ok so it arrived early and I already had a little play but today is official!) and my Mum, Alan and a dear friend Sam sent me gift vouchers that enabled me to get the sketch pens and another mat for the Cameo (which is probably a good job since my whoops earlier on nearly cut clear through it!).  So really big Thank You's to everyone :-)

Anyways I decided since I am banned from housework today that I would make the boys some Easter Cards with the Silhouette Freebies which was "Happy Easter", a Bunny and a Chick.  So I cut the sentiments and images on the silhouette then embossed a panel on my Cuttlebug (yes I still love my CB!) with the Spots and Dots embossing folder.  Then used the sketch pen in the Silhouette to do a nice inside (since the boys complain they can't read my writing hehe)... and bobs your uncle... have a wonderful Easter everyone...

Triple Layer Card #2

G'day,

Well I liked the first triple layer card so much I made another one... this time though the colours were Grape Jelly, LuLu Lavender, Sweet plum, Lilac Posies and Angel Pink Mementos Dye ink.  I was a little apprehensive on such an array of shades but I think it worked :-)

I used my Cameo Silhouette files I used for the last one to do the cutting out... still way more straight and accurate than I will ever get free hand!  I would like to know how everyone else attaches bows to their cards?  In this case I used wet glue as the silicon dots don't seem to cut it and neither does the double sided tape.

For this card it only takes 2 A4 sheets of card, one black one white.
The black sheet has the card base A6 size (21cm by 14.5cm) then rectangles of (8cm by 12cm) and (9.5cm by 5.5cm) cut out.
The white A4 sheet has two rectangles of (14cm by 10cm), a (11.5cm by 7.5cm) rectangle and a (9cm by 5cm) rectangle cut out.  One of the 14cm by 10cm rectangles gets decorated and put inside the card to be written on.

Mount the other 3 with a very, very little amount of double sided on 2 corners each just so that they do not move when you are stamping.

When you stamp you will get a bit of a gap in your stamping where your card moves to the next level but this gets covered by the black card.  I do stamp with a piece of foam underneath to give me some give and I get a much better image.

Continue stamping with your images - in my case Stampin' Up! "Priceless" - until you are satisfied.  I have placed the just stamped one next to the previously made and mounted card to show the difference the contrasting card bases make.

Then the tricky part is mounting it all evenly... I use double sided tape to put my cards together and make sure I don't push to stick down until I am certain it is even.  Don't forget to put your ribbon in before you stick down whichever layer you want it in!

Triple Layer Card

After seeing a great many Triple Layer Cards I decided I had best have a go myself.  The original idea was to emboss the front *but* I drew up my front panels in the Silhouette Cameo to cut out without taking into account the embossing folders being of a smaller height and width than the actual folder.  Rather than waste the cut card I decided to break out my Stampin' Up! Priceless set and have a go at a stamped TLC.

This is stamped in Rhubarb Stalk and Lady Bug Memento Dye Ink.  I am still deciding whether to put a "Happy Birthday" or something on the front or maybe I will leave it plain.  Anyways hope you like the card.

Double Monica.

This one is a little less cheesy…. Only a little though :-)

This is an entry into Simon Says Stamp Challenge for Simon Says… Choose a Sketch!

The stamps are both of Monica from House Mouse… the first is ”Hooray” and the second “Monica’s Gift” which again combined adorably here… They were coloured using Faber Castell Pencils.  The edges were inked on everything using Memento Dye ink Dew Drops in Cantaloupe.  The corners got chomped by We R Memory Keepers Corner Chomper 1/4".

Now all the squares I cut using my Cameo as I need to practice how to use it… it also meant the squares were square!

The yellow panel was embossed using the Cuttlebug with Spots and Dots… The patterned paper came in a magazine called Australian Simply Cards… it was from NitWits and is “The Never Not collection”.  I thought it rather went well with the buff cardstock from my stash. J

The ribbons and pearls again came from my stash and were a nice way to finish this project.

Anyway that’s it from me for now… Happy crafting,
*hugs*  Sarah x

Something Cheesy!

Well I do love House Mouse stamps… they are so cute!  Today’s make is no exception… House Mouse has a Challenge on: Ribbon and Pearls for Mousey Challenge #HMFMC140.  Now that’s quite and ask with the stamps I actually have of theirs but the boys and I came up with a fun way to use them… if not a bit cheesy!

What do you think?  I still think it needs something…

The stamps are both of Monica from House Mouse… the first is ”Hooray” and the second “Monica’s Gift”  which combined adorably here… They were coloured using Faber Castell Pencils.  The edges were inked on everything using Memento Dye ink Dew Drops in both Dandelion and Cantaloupe.  All corners got chomped by We R Memory Keepers Corner Chomper 1/4".

The background blue is core’dinations run through the Cuttlebug with the folder Spots and Dots then sanded.  The top design is mounted onto Yellow Core-dinations which has cheese holes punched in with the crop-a-dile then sanded the edges.

Ok the cheese… yep craft foam… yellow and orange layered and holes punched in the yellow before layering with the Crop-a-dile… then glued together and inked in the above mentioned shades.  Happy Birthday ribbon tied and stuck on… then mounted.

Lastly the pearls were sponged with Dandelion and Cantaloupe ink to blend them with the card colours.. and that’s all folks J

Colour a Rainbow

Katharina Frei has asked to see our favourite colouring medium… not an example of it… but the actual items in our crafty spots… so I will be a good sport and show off a little of my craft room again.  You know I waited so long for a craft room I have to show it off now!

Anyway… my favourite way to colour my stamps is good old fashioned PENCILS… yes… pencils.  I am like the texture, the multi colour and the blending… and with the boys always borrowing my stuff… I can replace these!  So here’s my pics…

My drawers full of rainbow... most of them are Faber Castell.

How they look when I am working on an image....well kind of... usually half of them are on my desk while I am working... and how they look when I am done (I do  try to keep my desk clean... I am not always successful hehe).
